The Desperate Housewives DVD, scheduled for release in September 2005, will contain footage never seen on the air because of censorship rules for TV broadcasts, according to an article in the New York Post on February 8th, 2005. Marc Cherry (creator and writer for the series) has been quoted in their interview saying that "Certain actresses [on the show] really don't like to wear bras," and that "We try to accommodate them as much as possible. We do a lot of blurring." Cherry also specifically mentioned one unaired scene with Nicollette Sheridan (Edie Britt) in her underwear that might be put on the DVD. Other deleted content that could be on the DVD includes an S&M sequence featuring Sharon Lawrence and Steven Culp, who plays Bree Van De Kamp's husband, Rex. Cherry noted that "Standards and practices went nuts" and the scene had to be cut. The extras won't just contain censored items, Cherry added "We've got a couple of plots that are going to make much more sense once you see what we've cut out". |
